My family's had Kaiser health care for years. A lot of people sneer at it because it's not as personalized as what most people have/like...it's institutionalized health care, and you spend a lot more time with nurse practitioners and physician's assistants than the doctor per se.
I love it, myself. We could do worse than having Kaiser as a national health care model.
However, I'll settle for 1.) NO PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, EVER!! and 2.) non-employer coverage options. My family has a major stake in this. Our 23 year old son has a significant pre-existing condition (Crohn's Disease), and he's reaching the end of our coverage cycle through our employers. Luckily we can help him, but he's one of the few lucky ones...and covering him will impact our own ability to retire in a few years, at least until he is able to get coverage. If he ever can on his own. Sigh.
